The Jazz Jam Photography Exhibit
On any given night, in any neighborhood of Jacksonville, there's a jazz jam going on. The format is nearly two centuries old, and jazz jams have been a staple of this city's music scene since at least the mid-20th Century. While the music stopped for a brief period at the outset of the pandemic, the jazz jams- like the popular one led by Grammy-winning drummer Ulysses Owens Jr. at non-alcoholic watering hole Wildcrafters- returned as restrictions eased, and represented a return to normal. Local photographer Felicia Bass was there [every Sunday], and the images she captured speak to the unadulterated joy that music can provide. An exhibit of Bass' images was on display June 19 - July 31 at Wildcrafters.
